No! The beauty of yoga is that anyone young or old, athletic or not, large or small can practice. Yoga is a personal practice and we encourage each student to move at their own pace without pushing their body. We honor each student's individual ability, and we work with alignment techniques will help you ﬁnd an optimal place for yourself in every pose.
All teachers at Bodhi Tree Yoga are highly-trained, registered with Yoga Alliance, and have completed hundreds or thousands of hours of intensive study and teacher training. These areas of training include anatomy, yoga therapeutics, and kinesiology. Anusara yoga, which inspires our teaching, is an alignment-based system of hatha yoga that employs specific alignment techniques to help each student find her/his optimal place in any given pose. We are committed to helping you stay healthy & discover your fullest potential on the mat (and off!). Any injuries or limitations are honored and respected, and all BTY teachers have training and experience working with students with injuries and chronic health conditions. May 2020 update: Advance registration is required for our livestream classes via Zoom. It takes just a few minutes to log in or create an account and sign up for class. You can join any class right up until it begins. Zoom broadcast links are listed with any class that you are signed up for; you just need to be logged in to your account for the link to appear!
Pre-COVID policy: There’s no need to sign up in advance for any of our regular weekly classes. It’s best to arrive around 10 minutes early to your first class to fill out a bit of paperwork, meet the teacher, and get settled in. We look forward to meeting you!
We do strongly suggest advance sign-up for our workshops and special classes when specified, though.
Please wear comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement. Your teacher will want to see your feet and knees, so plan to practice barefoot in clothing that is not too loose-ﬁtting. Our studio is kept to a reasonably warm temperature, but layers are always a good idea as the perception of hot & cold differs a lot person to person!
An empty-ish stomach is best, and please refrain from wearing any strong scents. We encourage you to bring your own yoga mat to class, but we do have mats available for use at the studio. All other props are provided.
On heavy snow days, please check the schedule page of the website or call us at 585-355-2487 before coming to class.
We will post cancellations on our schedule page and send out a mass e-mail to our student contact list with any cancellation info.
We offer many different class cards with both shorter and longer expiration dates to give you lots of choices that will accommodate home & travel schedules. But we understand that life can feel extra-busy sometimes! So, if you need an extension on your class card, please let us know before your card expires.
We are happy to extend your card’s expiration date by 1 week, but cannot grant longer extension periods except in cases of emergency or injury. Please let Amy Jo or Cathy know if your situation falls under one of these categories, and we can work something out. Many thanks for your understanding!
